Hello and welcome to my gear page. I am a Cape Cod and Boston wedding and family photographer. The page is mostly about the gear I’ve tested, own, or recommend for buying. We live in a digital world. For many years working in the professional tech photo industry, many of my clients, friends, and people keep asking me about Photography Gear to buy for professional or personal use purposes.
Photography Gear to buy: This is Photographers Guide to Buying Cameras and Accessories: which camera is best based on my experience, which lens is the most useful, and what am I using in my daily professional life at the office and home.
Welcome to my digital journey and buy some great gear for your personal or professional needs.
Please remember, each experience is unique and so yours.
Sony Digital Mirrorless Cameras
As a Sony Photographer, I would recommend buying a Full-Frame mirrorless camera with an incredible performance with unique Eye detection and face recognition focus systems. Both cameras are professional and have some minor differences in functions and durability.
Sony Alpha A9 Full-Frame Mirrorless is the next generation, with a higher level of performance and endurance. I highly recommend the camera for photojournalists, professionals, and people who used to buy the best only. Here you can find a detailed review and official page.
I use both cameras in my professional and daily life. Spectacular performance, compact sizes along with powerful lenses, make the process easier. You will enjoy and love working with mirrorless cameras. It makes all the difference when you’re traveling long distances when the camera’s weight makes all the difference.
Some additional gear to buy:
The charging battery kit with 2 batteries as a budget option.
Powerextra Replacement Sony NP-FZ100 Battery – The kit is good enough. The charger is a must-have gear, works with replicas and original sony Rechargeable Batteries.
Sony NP-FZ100 Battery. An original extra battery is the most stable way to work with your cameras.
Lenses for Sony EF mount (Mirrorless Digital Cameras)
SONY LENSES – buying a camera body is the first step. What’s the next one? The lenses!
a. Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 for Sony Mirrorless Full Frame E Mount. Why Tamron? I haven’t seen such a unique lens for decades! It’s compact, cheap, has a great picture to provide, and a 2.8 aperture! The lens is much cheaper and lighter than an original Sony 24-70 2.8. A great lens to buy for portraits, landscape, and photojournalist photography. A must-have for all Sony photographers! Check the details in the review.
For those who prefer top-notch fix lenses a few more options:
b. Zeiss 135mm F/2.8 – a spectacular, crisp professional lens for portraits and catching the photos on a long-distance. The review
c. Sony 55mm F1.8 Sonnar T FE – a must-have lens with an iconic focal length, wide aperture, and brilliant artistic picture. Compact, useful, great for portraits, fine art, and photos in low light conditions. The review.
Canon Digital Mirrorless Cameras
All about Canon. For those who prefer Full-Frame mirrorless Canon cameras.
For beginners, amateurs, and those who want to stay on an affordable budget and buy a good-enough Full-Frame Canon, there are two bodies to choose from. Meanwhile, Rp is more affordable, with almost the same functionality.
Canon EOS RP & R Full Frame Mirrorless.
The ultimate full-frame camera is a new Canon EOS R6. Canon has done an incredible job of catching up with Sony in the mirrorless camera branch – they succeeded. The R6 is almost perfect and the most powerful body on the market for professional photographers. I fell in love with this camera at first sight, and I definitely plan to buy it and the lens kit.
Canon EOS R6 Full-Frame – The winner
As a small tradition in this article, let start with the multi-purpose budget lensю. Yes, it’s darker than it might be. The aperture is 4.0 only. Not so dreamy, but in a reasonable budget and an original lens. The review.
a. Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L
b. Canon Rf 24-70mm 2.8 & Canon Canon RF 28-70mm f/2L
Ultimate multifunctional zoom lenses from Canon. Yes, these are the best. The main difference is the aperture 2.8 vs. 2.0. With the highest aperture comes a larger size and weight. So no other cons except the price and weight only. Both lenses are not cheap at all. I personally tried Canon Rf 24-70mm 2.8 and loved it so much! The reviews you can find here and here.
A must-have for artists and people who adores the best of the best. A Dreamy iconic 50 mm lens. Expensive, powerful, gorgeous! The review.
c. Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L USM Lens
d. If you are looking for something wider, take a look at Canon 35 mm. Aperture 1.8is good-enough to photograph in the dusk. The lens is not heavy. The price is affordable. You can use this lens for portrait, landscape, and city photography—the review.
