Historic Back Bay wedding venue Fairmont Copley Plaza Wedding in Boston: Acia & Joel

There is a particular kind of magic that settles over Boston in late October. The air turns crisp, the shadows grow long and elegant against the historic facades of Back Bay, and for a moment, the city feels like a living canvas. On Sunday, October 26, 2025, that canvas was painted with the love story of Acia and Joel.

Choosing a Fairmont Copley Plaza wedding is a nod to timelessness. Since 1912, this “Grand Dame” of Boston hotels has stood as a beacon of luxury, and for Acia and Joel, it provided the perfect architectural embrace for their union. The day began in the quiet anticipation of the suites, where light spilled across heirloom details. Acia was a vision of modern grace, her look perfected by the artistry of Maricruz Hairstyles and Glamour Cosmetics. There is a specific stillness I look for as a photographer—the quiet breath before the ceremony—and Acia held it beautifully. The ceremony, officiated by Avi Teken, was a soulful exchange of promises. Surrounded by the opulent gold leaf and crystal chandeliers of the Fairmont, the atmosphere was heightened by the stirring melodies of Burbank’s Strings and the delicate touch of a string quartet. Transitioning into the reception, the Grand Ballroom was transformed into an autumnal dream. Floristika Studio curated a floral landscape that felt both lush and architectural, perfectly complementing the room’s regal gold accents. Every detail, from the meticulous planning by Primavera Dreams to the refined rentals from Party Rentals LTD, spoke to a standard of excellence.

As the evening unfolded, the energy shifted from stately to celebratory. TSG Weddings and Entertainment Specialists ensured the dance floor remained the heart of the night, while PicMe Boston captured the joyful, candid moments that define a wedding’s true spirit.

Acia and Joel, your day was a masterclass in Boston elegance. Thank you for allowing me to document these fleeting, beautiful moments.

Venue Spotlight: The Heritage of 138 St. James Avenue

To walk into the Fairmont Copley Plaza is to step into a century of Bostonian high society. Opened in 1912 on the original site of the Museum of Fine Arts, this Beaux-Arts masterpiece was designed by Henry Janeway Hardenbergh—the same architect behind The Plaza in New York.
Its history is etched into every gilded corner. It was the first hotel in the world to accept credit cards and the first in Boston to offer air conditioning. Over the years, its hallways (famously known as “Peacock Alley” for the socialites who paraded through them) have hosted everyone from Frank Sinatra and Elizabeth Taylor to every U.S. President since Taft.

The Ballrooms: Where History Meets Celebration

  • The Grand Ballroom: The crown jewel of the hotel. With its 30-foot gilded ceilings, wrap-around balconies, and massive crystal chandeliers, it is the definition of palatial splendor. It’s a room designed for “Grand Entrances,” featuring a dramatic staircase that has seen over 100 years of bridal processions.

  • The Oval Room: Widely considered one of the most beautiful rooms in America, the Oval Room is famous for its blue-sky ceiling mural and hand-carved moldings. Historically, this was the site of Boston’s most elite “Tea Dances.” For Acia and Joel’s wedding, it provided an intimate yet regal atmosphere that felt like a fairytale come to life.

  • The Venetian Room: Often used for cocktail hours or more intimate receptions, this octagonal room features Renaissance-inspired architecture and mirrored walls. Fun fact for your guests: Behind one of these mirrors lies a “hidden” entrance used during the Prohibition era for the city’s elite to enjoy a secret drink.
