Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Boston wedding photographer Alex Gordias. Today’s post features the beautiful Intercontinental Boston wedding of Shelby and James. While the pandemic changed many initial plans, their celebration was nothing short of amazing.
The festivities commenced with Shelby and James preparing in their respective suites at the Intercontinental. In Shelby’s suite, a sense of formal elegance prevailed as her attendants helped her into her gown. James, in contrast, spent a more leisurely morning with his groomsmen, enjoying a relaxed and festive atmosphere before the ceremony began.

The Ceremony: Shrine of Our Lady of Good Voyage
The nuptials took place at the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Voyage in the Seaport, a location that brought a solemn yet joyful tone to the occasion. The couple’s “first look” at the altar was a poignant highlight, perfectly capturing their elation. The shrine’s nautical-inspired, serene environment offered a unique and dignified backdrop for the exchange of vows.

Portrait Session: Fan Pier Park
Following the ceremony, the bridal party proceeded to Fan Pier Park for a formal photographic session. The iconic Boston skyline and refreshing harbor breeze enriched these moments, providing a scenic juxtaposition of natural beauty and urban sophistication for their wedding album.
The Reception: Surrounded by Loved Ones
The celebration continued back at the Intercontinental. The reception combined refined decor with an atmosphere of pure jubilation. Guests were treated to a gourmet banquet, eloquent toasts, and a vibrant dance floor. The newlyweds’ first dance under the ballroom’s elegant lighting was a highlight of the evening.

Conclusion: A Grand Send-Off
The event culminated with Shelby and James departing amidst a radiant display of sparklers—a perfect symbol of their glowing future together. This wedding was more than just a celebration; it was an embodiment of love set against the backdrop of one of America’s most historic waterfronts.
From the solemnity of the ceremony at the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Voyage to the exuberant reception at the Intercontinental, Shelby and James’ wedding blended formality and emotional depth beautifully. It remains an indelible memory for all who were present.
