In the midst of a beautiful Massachusetts summer, I am thrilled to share my latest Provincetown Dunes Engagement Session. As a local Cape Cod Wedding Photographer, I have been dreaming of conducting a photo shoot in this extraordinary locale since my very first visit to the Cape. I was simply waiting for the perfect couple who shared a passion for this unique, desert-like landscape.
We began planning this session in early spring, and mid-summer proved to be the ideal time. The weather was flawless, turning our hour-plus walk through the rolling sand dunes into a delightful and scenic adventure. The vastness of the dunes provides a sense of isolation and romance that is hard to find anywhere else in New England.
Discovering the Cape Cod National Seashore
Did you know that coastal dunes constitute about one-third of the Cape Cod National Seashore? It is truly one of the most stunning areas in the region. These dunes began forming post-glacially, with sand from the beaches carried inland by ancient currents and winds. Today, the Province Lands Trail winds through hidden forests and towering dunes, leading out to the public beaches.
For those planning a visit, the Province Lands Visitor Center offers a great vantage point to view the dunes and learn about the area’s history. I highly recommend a trip to Provincetown to explore this natural wonder—it’s an experience you won’t want to miss, and as a photographer, it is a playground of natural light and texture.
